Women, Wisdom and Work

March 06, 2024 by Sheila Winter Wallace

I have often heard coaches and healers who are struggling with getting paid for doing the work they love say: It is never about the money (as if to rationalize the despair of unrequited reciprocity). While that statement is actually true at higher orders of thinking, even in the most practical of considerations, we could also own the truth of this: It is always about the money. We are spiritual beings expressing into a physical reality through tissue. As such, we can create anything we put our minds to, yet the conversations about money that we could be having are both avoided and denied, so deep is the abyss of our fear of feeling ostracized because we have it… or because we don’t.

Happy New Year, 2024 is here!

January 06, 2024 by Sheila Winter Wallace

If you consciously choose to step into the consequential fray of all the decisions that did not work out as planned, leaving you with feelings of anger, sadness, fear, guilt and shame, I promise you, you’ll get your life back. I can tell you that it takes courage to examine - and feel - what you have denied, avoided and defended as not your fault, to get to that place where you finally stop rationalizing the decisions made so that you can stop feeling badly about your results. It takes ownership of the strangling resentment, the big grudge that we carry about having failed. It’s always somebody else’s fault; how dare they? The moment we choose to own and validate that grudge, there is nothing left to fight. Can you imagine living without the ‘fight’? If nature abhors a vacuum, if you give up the fight, what could you imagine instead?

52 years married

August 14, 2023 by Sheila Winter Wallace

It had been a very hot and humid day right up until about 6 PM, then the rain started to fall heavily in sheets. I ran to the car from my Aunt’s apartment on Charlotte Street in Ottawa so my father could drive me to St. James Anglican Church in Hull, Quebec for a 7 PM ceremony.  I was about to get married.

Only 3 days before, I had been running the underground tunnels of the Ottawa Civic Hospital looking for my friend who was working the evening shift; I was in a bit of a panic. All of a sudden, I had wondered just what I was getting myself into. I did not find my friend at work; she had already finished her shift, so I headed over to her apartment. She heard me out, assuaged my ‘fears’ (was I doing the right thing?)  and calmed me down. Now, Saturday had arrived.

21st Century Huna™ Spiritual Empowerment

July 23, 2023 by Sheila Winter Wallace

Back in the early 1990’s I read a book by Dan Millman, The Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior. It related his spiritual learnings through the teachings of a female Kahuna in Hawaii. I loved the book; it was deep and it was magical. Little did I know that, 5 years later, I would find myself on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1997 for my first entry into learning the ancient Hawaiian philosophy of Huna. I started out as a novice student and 5 years later was invited to become one of the teachers for the school - the halau - I was studying at. I met people from all over the world who were intuitively called to Hawaii to discover more about themselves. Over the years, I made 22 trips to Hawaii. I believe now that those trips were preparing me - unknowingly - to navigate the times we are now living in, so that I can share what is possible with others who are looking to make sense of their worlds.

Money and uncertainty

July 10, 2023 by Sheila Winter Wallace

We are in a time of unprecedented stress these days when it comes to the money conversation. Somehow, I think that I have been preparing for this conversation all of my life.

If the last three years have pointed out anything, both globally and locally, we are in movement of massive change, whether we like where it is going or not. Everything holds its opposite, so, as we discover what we don’t like about the situations we find ourselves in, we also get to uncover the good which may not have been obvious before.
